West African Ventures, an operating company of the Sea Trucks Group, was established in 2000 and is a 100% Nigerian company and a leading indigenous provider of offshore engineering, procurement, fabrication, installation and vessel charter services.
With corporate headquarters in Lagos, marine support base & shipyard in Warri, dry-dock and fabrication facilities in Onne Oil & Gas Free Zone, WAV provides excellent offshore support services to the Nigerian Oil & Gas sector.
Job Title: Structural Engineer
Location: Lagos, Nigeria
Responsibilities
  • Reports to the Engineering Manager (functional), Senior Project Engineer (project related)
  • Liaises with the Senior Project Engineer, CAD Engineers.
  • Directs Trainees and Draughtsmen involved in structural calculations and drafting;
  • Timely completion of assigned engineering task; Employment At WestAfrican Ventures
  • Quality of prepared engineering deliverable, i.e. in accordance with contractual, legislative, regulatory, company requirements;
  • “Fitness for purpose” of engineering deliverables
  • Adherence to Company Management System (CMS) applicable to structural Engineering
  • Ensures Drawings are completed on time and checked for errors before transmitting to client
  • Ensures the structural integrity of materials used in projects; Employment At West African Ventures
  • Engineering support during execution phase of the project (fabrication, offshore)
  • Request for input for preparation of assigned engineering deliverable
  • Review of applicable engineering deliverables
Requirements
  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering or relevant Engineering discipline
  • Relevant offshore training
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in offshore engineering
  • Conversant with the use of AutoCAD software
  • Ability to generate MTO from structural Drawings
  • Good knowledge of design codes, standards and specifications
  • Practical and theoretical knowledge of offshore transportation, installation and construction techniques
  • Good knowledge of Design/ Calculation software and analysis tool
  • Good knowledge of Company Management System (CMS) ensuring compliance to quality, health, safety, environment and security (QHSES) requirements; Employment At West African Ventures
  • Good knowledge of the English language both written and spoken
  • Ability to work in a team and to co-ordinate activities
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings
  • Good theoretical knowledge of structural analysis
  • Must be’ solutions-oriented’ and able to identify key issues and patterns in complex situations
