Employment Opportunities at Federal Polytechnic, Oko

The Institution which is today known as Federal Polytechnic, Oko, was approved by the Anambra State Government in 1979 as a College of Arts and Science. In June, 1980, the Institution was upgraded to a College of Arts, Science and Technology. And in 1985, an Edict of the Anambra State Government formalized the status of the College as a Polytechnic and named it Anambra State Polytechnic, Oko.
Finally, in 1993, the State Polytechnic was taken over by the Federal Government and was renamed Federal Polytechnic, Oko, with Campuses in Atani and Ufuma.
The Polytechnic has the following Vision, Mission and Objectives:
Vision: The establishment of a 21st Century Institution of International Standard driven by ICT.
Mission: To train students, who on graduation, would be equipped with necessary skills for enterprise and self actualization in line with current needs of the job market guided by Federal Government’s objectives for technical and vocational education.
Objectives: The objectives of Federal Polytechnic, Oko, are spelt out by the Federal Government as follows: A Polytechnic is a higher Institution set up primarily to produce higher and lower technical manpower for the National Economy. The purpose of their establishment is to fast track the Nation’s drive towards technological development.
The Governing Council of the Federal Polytechnic, Oko, hereby announces the vacant position of Bursar in keeping with the provisions of the Act setting up the Polytechnic, as amended, and in exercise of its powers contained therein.
SCHOOL BURSAR
RESPONSIBILITIES
The Bursar is a Principal Officer of the Polytechnic and is responsible to the Rector for the day-to-day administration and control of the financial affairs of the Polytechnic.
REQUIREMENTS
A good honours degree in Accountancy or Finance from a recognised Institution of higher learning or equivalent professional accountancy qualification with at least eighteen (18) years post qualification experience
Membership of a recognised professional Accountancy body (eg. ICAN, etc) is mandatory
Possession of a higher degree will be an added advantage
Candidates must be Information and Communication Technology (ICT) compliant and must command respect and be able to carry colleagues along
Evidence of Community Service is mandatory
Remuneration & Conditions of Service
The position is tenured and the Bursar shall hold office for a period of five years, in the first instance, and may be reappointed for a further period of five years and no more. Thereafter, he/she is assigned to other duties in the Polytechnic. Conditions of Service are as applicable in all other Federal Polytechnics.
